Create a backup
If your Mac is using an earlier version of any Mac operating system, you should install the latest Apple software updates, which can include important security updates and updates for the apps that are installed by macOS, such as Safari, Books, Messages, Mail, Music, Calendar, and Photos. Peer-to-peer AirPlay requires a Mac (2012 or later) and an Apple TV (3rd generation rev A, model A1469 or later) with Apple TV software 7.0 or later. Requires an external storage device (sold separately). Maps electric vehicle routing. Requires an iPhone with iOS 14 and a compatible electric vehicle.
Back up your device to iCloud or your computer so you have a copy of your important information.

Make sure your device is plugged in and connected to the Internet with Wi-Fi. Then follow these steps:
- Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
- Tap Download and Install.
