- Download and install the application on your workstation or LDAP/AD server.
- Start up the Softerra LDAP browser and create a new profile.
- File > New Profile.
- Provide a name like 'ldapserver'.
- Enter IP address/hostname of the Domain Controller or LDAP server in the 'host' section.
- Use either '389' or '3268' for the port.
- The 'Base DN' can be left blank.
- For the 'User DN', enter in your work email address.
- Enter in the corresponding password.
- When it prompts for the 'Connection Options', you can click on 'Finish' at the bottom.
- At this point, the left-side of the application shows your directory structure for the LDAP/Active directory server.
- Click on the container that contains the user schema to view the different attributes/variables.
- You can also export the user information in a LDIF file. This file may be viewed via a text editor like Notepad or Wordpad.
- Go to File > LDIF Export to export the user LDIF to your workstation.
